The Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) came into existence in 1991 and covers 1679 square kilometers in the Nepalese Himalayas. The area surrounding Manaslu is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. The conservation area includes the Nubra, Larkya, and Bheri river valleys. The Manaslu Permit is a permit to trek in the MCAP. It is also referred to as the Manaslu Conservation Area Project Permit (MCAPP).

The cost of the Manaslu Permit is US $ 135 for foreigners. The validity of the permit is for 10 days and you can extend for another at an additional cost of US $15 for a day if required.

Why is a permit necessary?

Manaslu Permit Validation

The Manaslu Permit is valid for a maximum of one week, and you can stay in the restricted area by paying an extra USD 15 a day. If you want to stay in the restricted area for longer than this, you will need to apply for an extension.

Can I Transfer or get the Refund after its issue?

You must keep the permit on you at all times during the walk since it is not transferable. A fine or perhaps jail arrest is more likely to happen.

You cannot transfer the permit to any other person after issuing it.

It is also important to remember that the permit is only valid for the specific trekking route that is specified on it. If you decide to take a different route, you will need to obtain a new permit.

Manaslu Permit Cost from September to November

For September, October, and November, the cost of the Manaslu Trekking Permit is US $100 for foreigners. Similarly, the validity of the permit is for 7 days and you can extend it at an additional cost of US $15.

Manaslu Permit Cost from December to August

For December – August, the cost of the Manaslu Trekking Permit is US $75 for foreigners. Likewise, the permit is valid for 7 days and can be extended at an additional cost of US $10.

MCAP Permit

You also need to get an MCAP permit issued by the Manaslu conservation area from Philim, the starting point of the conservation area. You need to pay USD 30 to get an MCAP Permit. There is no bar on the number of days you can stay inside the conservation area. Unlike the Trekking permit by the immigration department, MCAP permits have the same cost throughout the year.

The Trekking Agency’s representative will make this MCAP permit through the trekking agency by applying it to the Nepal Tourism Board.

ACAP Permit

ACAP Permit is issued by the Annapurna Conservation Area for foreigners to enter the Annapurna region. You need to pay USD 30 permit. Unlike Trekking permits by immigration, ACAP permits have the same cost throughout the year. This permit can also be made by the Nepal Tourism Board.
