Spring Season (March-May)

Spring is another perfect season for trekking. It comes after Winter. The warm temperature melts the snow of Winter, clearing the trails. The trails are perfect for trekking. The crystal clear view is panoramic.

March, April, and May are three months of Spring. In Spring, flowers get new life and begin to bloom. You see the colourful blossom of Rhododendrons and other wildflowers along the trails. The temperature is moderate, even warmer than Autumn.

The average temperature is 10 degrees. The nights are colder, and mornings are chilly in lower regions, whereas in higher altitudes, the mornings and evenings are freezing. However, it is bearable with a thick layering of warmer clothes.

The temperature rises by the last month of Spring in May, welcoming summer. The temperatures range from 18 to 22 degrees. But nights are always colder in higher altitudes.

The days are very warm and cosy. The trails are in the best condition. Spring has long day hours, allowing one to explore more in natural light. Many trekkers trek during this season, which makes trials busy.

Winter Season (December-February)

Winter is the coldest season in Nepal. The harsh weather is not favourable for trekking. December, January, and February are months of Winter. High passes remain closed in Winter due to safety regions.

The temperature is unbearably cold at night. The temperature ranges from 7 to 12 degrees in lower regions. In mid-regions, it ranges from 2 to 8 degrees. While in high altitude, the temperature drops to negative.

There is a high chance of avalanches and roadblocks due to heavy snowfall. If you want to avoid blocked passes, early December is the best time. There are accommodations available even in Winter. So, you don’t have to worry about a night stay.

The days may be gloomy with snow clouds. But there is a chance to see gorgeous views of snow-capped mountains. The scenery of Winter hits differently. But due to harsh weather, trekkers avoid this season.

Summer is the worst time for trekking. It rains heavily, making trails very muddy and slippery. There is a high risk of slipping. There is also a probability of landslides and cancellation of flights due to rain.

June, July, and August are months of the Summer Season. However, there is no rainfall at the beginning of June and end of August. The damp weather invites many pests, such as leeches and mosquitoes.

However, due to the diversity in Landscapes, there are rain-shadow areas in the northern section of Annapurna Circus, with less chance of rainfall even during Summer. For instance, Mustang, Dolpo, and Tsum Valley are rain-shadow areas.

The water bodies come into life during summer. You can see streaming waterfalls and rivers along the trails. The beauty of lush green forests, flora, and fauna keeps you busy during the trek. However, it is the least favourable time to trek.
