After a pleasant overnight in Kathmandu, you will be met by your tour guide today to explore significant places in Kathmandu.
Pashupatinath Temple
Pashupatinath Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, located in Kathmandu, Nepal. The temple is built on the Bagmati River bank and is considered one of Nepal’s most sacred Hindu temples.
The main attraction of Pashupatinath Temple lies in its unique architecture and design. It has six floors and several shrines dedicated to different deities such as Shiva, Vishnu, Surya, Parvati, and Indra.
Boudhanath Stupa
Boudhanath Stupa is a popular pilgrimage site in Kathmandu. The main attraction of the stupa is its gold and silver dome, which has been compared to the pyramids of Giza. The stupa was built as a place of worship for bodhisattvas (Buddhist saints).
The monastery is home to an impressive array of Buddhist scriptures and artworks, including statues of Buddha and his disciples. There are also large murals depicting scenes from the life of Buddha.
Kathmandu Durbar Square
The Kathmandu Durbar Square is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and it’s easy to see why—this is a stunningly beautiful and peaceful area. The square was built as a royal palace and has been used for various purposes throughout history. Today, it’s home to many museums, including the National Museum, which displays artifacts from all over Nepal and many other cultural institutions.
In addition to these historical sites, there are many other things to see at Kathmandu Durbar Square—from shopping opportunities to food vendors and even an aquarium!
Swayambhunath
Swayambhunath is where most Buddhist pilgrims visit with millions of tourists every year. This place is located at the top of a hillock. It is believed to be the holiest site compared to other Buddhist holy expedition sites.
The devotees of Tibetan Buddhism – Bouddha at first – have coined this place as ‘the most authentic Buddhist place.’ The site comprises numerous temples, shrines, monasteries, and a library, the one highlight being Natural History Museum.
Nagarkot
Nagarkot is a hill station in the Himalayas. It is located at an altitude of more than 2,175m and has excellent views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The town of Nagarkot is a favorite destination amongst visitors because of its natural beauty and wonderful climate.
It’s on the highest point of the valley, surrounded by rolling hills filled with lush vegetation. There are many places to hike, or you can just relax in one of the many tea shops that line the road to Nagarkot.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square
Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The square is home to some of the finest examples of Nepali architecture, from temples to palaces. There are several different styles of a temple here, but all have a certain charm that makes them stand out from other buildings in the country.
The Durbar Square is where you will find some of the best examples of Nepalese architecture and craftsmanship at work. It’s also home to various shops, restaurants, cafes, and much more! 55 windowed palace, Nyatapole temple, Bhairava temple, Vatsala temple, Lion’s gate, the Art Gallery, etc., are the major attractions.
Patan Durbar Square
Patan Durbar Square is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous sites in Kathmandu. The square was built as a royal residence, which has been transformed into a bustling market and religious center today.
Several palaces, temples, and buildings surround the square, and monuments are still used today for religious ceremonies. Patan Durbar Square is an open area where you can find shops, restaurants, and cafes. Many small restaurants serve delicious food from all over Nepal. Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Temple, Vishwanath Temple, Taleju Bhawani Temple, etc., are the major highlights of the place.
If time permits, we’ll stop by the Budhanilkantha temple in Narayanthan at the end of the day.
After a night in Kathmandu, you’ll be driven to Chitwan. But before getting there, you’ll have the opportunity to raft in the Trishuli river. It takes around 3 hours to arrive at the river.
Rafting the Trishuli River is one of the most popular activities in Nepal. The river is considered sacred and offers a breathtaking view of the Himalayas.
You’ll start your adventure by driving up to the river, where an experienced guide will help you board your raft. You’ll then be led downriver by the current, which is strong but not dangerous. After an hour or so of paddling and relaxing in your raft, you’ll be able to take photos before returning to shore.
After completing rafting, you’ll get on 2 hour drive to Chitwan following lunch. Upon arriving in Chitwan, you can check in at the hotel and rest for a while. Later that evening, a cultural program will be portrayed by the Tharu stick dance. Chitwan is also home to the Tharu people. Their culture is fascinating and worth exploring.
Chitwan National Park is an amazing place to explore. You can hike through the jungle, enjoy a boat ride on the river, or just chill out in one of the park’s beautiful gardens.
The day begins with a jungle safari into the national park wilderness. Soon after, you can visit the crocodile breeding center, where you can see how they are trained and kept. Afterward, head to the elephant conservation area, where you’ll learn about how they are raised in captivity. After that, you’ll go out into the forest for bird watching or nature walks.
Later in the day, it’s time to head to the amazing city of lakes, Pokhara, on a drive.
(Note: You can extend your trip to Nepal in case you want to explore more. Instead of heading to Pokhara from Chitwan, you have a choice to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. For this, it requires two additional days, so the trip leads to Pokhara.)
On your sixth day, we will take you sightseeing in Pokhara. Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and drive to Sarangkot, located on top of a hill overlooking Pokhara Valley. Here you can enjoy the sunrise from Sarangkot. Those who love adventure can sign up for paragliding. And then we will take you boating in Phewa Lake and visit Tal Barahi temple.
After this short break, we head towards Gupteshwor Mahadev cave and Davis Falls. Soon enough, you’ll visit World Peace Pagoda. It is located on a hill and offers an enormous view of Pokhara. And thus, this marks the end of the tour in Pokhara.
On the seventh day of your trip, you will head to Kushma. It is a 4 hours drive from Pokhara on a private vehicle. This small village is located in the western part of Nepal, and it’s a popular tourist destination because of its views of the Annapurna Range.
You can bungee jump when visiting Kushma. Our tour company will cover the bungee jumping expense. However, it costs $15 to film a video. On the other hand, you can pay extra to partake in other adventurous activities like the adrenaline swing.
After completing the enjoyment, you’ll be driven back to Pokhara for the night’s stay.
(Note: You can also sign up for a day hike to Australian Camp during your stay in Pokhara.)
After breakfast, you will drive to Kathmandu. The drive is beautiful and takes around 5 to 7 hours. You will be dropped to your hotel/stay in Kathmandu, which is the end of our tour. You can also take a flight back to Pokhara.
We are happy to say that you are leaving Nepal with a smile and a feeling of accomplishment. On this final day, one of our staff will guide you to the airport for your flight back home country.
