Overview

Everest Gokyo Lake Trek is one of the perfect 10 days expeditions for all trekkers. It is one of the less crowded and most intrepidity trekking destination in the Khumbu region. This trek offers stimulating mountain views including the tallest peak of the world Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Imja Tse, Cho Oyu, and many others.

Dig into the confounding sherpa culture and tradition, picturesque Gokyo valley, visit ancient monasteries. Enjoy the wilderness of UNESCO World Heritage Site listed Sagarmatha National Park. 

This 11 days Everest Gokyo Lake Trek officially starts with the thrilling scenic mountain flight to Lukla. After meeting with porters on Lukla our trail starts with the charming Sherpa villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Dole, and Gokyo with some marvelous views.

Encounter the dramatic views of the northwest face of Everest along with other giant peaks of the Everest range. Visit Ngozumpa and Khumbu the largest and the deepest glaciers of the world. Witness the beautiful ice lake which is well-known as Gokyo Lake.

Everest Gokyo Lake Trek Short Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu and Evening welcome Dinner

Day 02: Flight to Lukla (2,642m/ 8,668ft) and trek to Phakding (2,562m/ 8,700m): 35min flight, 8km, 3-4 hrs trek

Day 03: Phakding to Namche Bazaar: (3,450m/ 11,315ft), 4-5 hrs

Day 04: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar

Day 05: Namche Bazaar to Dole: (4,200m/ 13,755ft), 4-5 hrs

Day 06: Dole to Machhermo: (4,470m/ 14,660ft), 5-6 hrs

Day 07: Machhero to Gokyo: (4,790m/ 15,710ft), 4-5 hrs

Day 08: Summit Gokyo Peak (RI) and trek back to Machhermo: (5,360m/ 17,580ft), 5-6 hrs

Day 09: Machermo to Namche Bazaar (3,450/ 11,315ft), 6hrs

Day 10: Namche Bazaar to Lukla: (2,850m/ 9,350ft), 5-6 hrs

Day 11: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel

 

Itinerary

DAY 01

Arrival at Kathmandu and Evening welcome Dinner

As you land at TIA Kathmandu airport our representative member will wait for you with a playing card. Then you’ll be transferred to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 02

Flight to Lukla (2,642m/ 8,668ft) and trek to Phakding (2,562m/ 8,700m): 35min flight, 8km, 3-4 hrs trek

After having the early morning scenic flight to Lukla we’ll meet our porters. Now our trek starts towards the Sherpa village Phakding. After crossing some villages like Chhupulung, and Ghat we’ll reach Phakding. Overnight at Phakding.

DAY 03

Phakding to Namche Bazaar: (3,450m/ 11,315ft), 4-5 hrs

Our day starts with a delicious breakfast at Phakding. Our trail continues through rhododendron, giant fir, Himalayan pine, and cedar forest. Overnight at Namche Bazaar

DAY 04

Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar

This is the rest day at Namche Bazaar to be acclimatized with the freezing temperature of Namche Bazaar. Visit Khumjung and Hillary school where the yeti skull has put since 1995. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

DAY 05

Namche Bazaar to Dole: (4,200m/ 13,755ft), 4-5 hrs

After enjoying a rest day at Namche we’ll now ascend towards Dole. Encounter the wild flora and fauna at UNESCO World Heritage Sites listed Sagarmatha National Park. After descending through the rhododendron and pine forest we’ll reach Dole. Overnight at Dole.

DAY 06

Dole to Machhermo: (4,470m/ 14,660ft), 5-6 hrs

Now we’ll head up from Dole towards Machhermo. Walk along the Dudh Koshi River and you’ll reach the small and peaceful town of Machhermo. Overnight at Machhermo.

DAY 07

Machhero to Gokyo: (4,790m/ 15,710ft), 4-5 hrs

After breakfast, our trail continues through the Sherpa villages and crossing some bridges. We’ll witness the first lake in the Everest region. After more walk, we’ll reach Gokyo lake which is located at 4,750 meters above sea level. Overnight at lodge.

DAY 08

Summit Gokyo Peak (RI) and trek back to Machhermo: (5,360m/ 17,580ft), 5-6 hrs

This day would be filled with excitement as the trail climbs up it provides superb views of the Himalayas. From the top enjoy the incredible sunrise view of over 8000m. After taking some photographs we’ll return back to Gokyo. Overnight at Gokyo.

DAY 09

Machermo to Namche Bazaar (3,450/ 11,315ft), 6hrs

After passing through beautiful Sherpa villages our trail descends down through the Dudh Koshi River. Now after crossing some suspension bridges and rhododendron forests we’ll reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

DAY 10

Namche Bazaar to Lukla: (2,850m/ 9,350ft), 5-6 hrs

After having a delicious breakfast we’ll start our trail. Our trail leads us through the forest to Kors sale and continues along the Dudh Koshi River passing small villages. Now we’ll reach the small airstrip Lukla. Overnight at Lukla.
DAY 11

Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel

After breakfast, we’ll have our early flyover towards Kathmandu. After landing at Kathmandu you’ll be transferred to the hotel. You can spend your leisure time exploring the vibrant markets.
