Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass is one of the most adventurous and beautiful treks of the Everest region. This trek requires some good fitness, acclimatization, and technical skills.
Throughout the journey, you will be blessed with the marvelous peaks of the Everest region. You can also see several of the highest mountains in the world, reaching the sky including Mt. Everest(8,848m), Kanchenjunga(8,586m), Lhotse(8516m), Makalu(8,481m), Nuptse(7,861m), and many more.
Everest Base Camp trek via Gokyo and Cho La pass starts with a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From Lukla, our trek starts towards Namche which is one of the famous towns of the Everest region.
In Namche Bazaar, we’ll have our first acclimatization at a high altitude. Now our trail walks on the Everest Base Camp and summits the Kala Patthar through the famous Tengboche Monastery.
From Kalapatthar enjoy the 360-degree snow-capped mountain view. You can perceive the marvelous view of Mt. Everest and its neighboring mountains. Now you’ll cross the trek to Gokyo valley crossing the path of Cho La.
You will visit all the high valleys of Khumbu and explore the upper valley of Gokyo. Also observe the longest glacier in Nepal, Ngozumpa Glacier. Now we’ll head to Gokyo Lake and enjoy the views of stunning snow-covered peaks of the Khumbu region.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu and Evening welcome Dinner
Day 02: Flight to Lukla (2,642m/ 8,668ft) and trek to Phakding (2,562m/ 8,700m): 35min flight, 8km, 3-4 hrs trek
Day 03: Phakding to Namche Bazaar: (3,340m/ 11280ft), 5-6 hrs
Day 04: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar
Day 05: Namche Bazaar to Phortse Thanga: (3,680m/ 12,074ft), 5-6 hrs
Day 06: Phortse Thanga to Machhermo: (4,470m/ 14,666ft), 4-5 hrs
Day 07: Machhermo to Gokyo: (4,800m/ 15,749ft), 4-5 hrs
Day 08: Acclimatization day at Gokyo
Day 09: Gokyo to Thagnak: (4,750m/ 15,585ft), 4-5 hrs
Day 10: Thagnak to Dzongla: (5,367m/ 17,609ft), 7-8 hrs
Day 11: Dzongla to Lobuche: (4,940m/ 16,208ft), 2-3 hrs
Day 12: Lobuche to Gorak Shep, visit Everest Base Camp: (5,3364m/ 17,599ft), 6-7 hrs
Day 13: Gorak Shep to Pheriche: (5,545m/ 18,193ft), 7-8 hrs
Day 14: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar: (3,438m/ 11,280ft), 6-7hrs
Day 15: Namche Bazaar to Lukla: (2,800m/ 9,187ft), 5-6 hrs
Day 16: Lukla to Kathmandu
Day 17: Transfer to Airport for your onward destination
As you land at TIA Kathmandu airport our representative member will wait for you with a playing card. Then you’ll be transferred to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Our day starts with a 35min flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. As we landed at the gateway of our tour we’ll meet other crew members and our trek starts. Now we gradually descend until we reach Phakding. Overnight at Phakding.
Walking down by the Dudh Koshi river and a beautiful pine forest we’ll pass Chumoa to Manjo. Now after a steep ascent we will now reach the prime heartland village of sherpas – Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.
This is our first rest day on the journey. There are plenty of things that can be done around Namche Bazaar or for acclimatizing. We can trek to Khumjung village, dig into the traditions of Sherpa life, and enjoy flora and fauna.
After having breakfast we climb to the east of the village down the broad valley. Along the way, we’ll visit Mohang and then descend a sandy slope to Dudh Koshi. Overnight at PhortseThanga.
From Phortse Thanga our trek starts with the walk alongside a rhododendron forest and passes through a waterfall before reaching Tongba Village. After crossing Dudh Koshi River we’ll finally reach Machhermo. Overnight at Machhermo.
After having a delicious breakfast at Machhermo our trek begins towards the valley to Kangtega. Little ahead of the lakes Gokyo village can be seen and Cho-Oyu Mountain. Overnight at Gokyo.
This is our second acclimation day on a trip. We’ll have a pleasant hike to Gokyo Ri and encounter the view of some of the highest peaks of the world. Overnight at Gokyo.
Our day starts with the beautiful scenery of Gokyo village and surrounding mountains like Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, and many more. After having a short hike we’ll now reach Thagnak. Overnight at Thagnak.
This is one of the toughest days of the trip. We’ll have to be careful as the trail is vertical and rocks glazed by ice which causes trouble. After passing through some crevasses we reach Dzongla Village. Overnight at Dzongla.
After having a delicate breakfast at Dzongla our day starts with the short trek. We will walk through a grassy trail and the wide river bed before reaching Lobuche. Overnight at Lobuche.
This is one of the important days for us as the trail goes up to Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching Everest Base Camp we can enjoy the marvelous view of the snow-capped mountains. We now get back to Gorak shep to have a good rest.
After having early morning breakfast we’ll start our trek to Pheriche. We’ll also visit Kalapatthar and enjoy the 360-degree snow-capped mountain view. Then return to Pheriche. Overnight at Pheriche.
Today we’ll descend to Namche Bazaar. Following the Dudh Koshi gorge and pine forests, we’ll reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.
The trail moves downward so we have to walk cautiously. We’ll cross dome suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River and finally reach Lukla. Overnight at Lukla.
Today we will have our early morning flight back to Kathmandu. After landing at Kathmandu you’ll be transferred to the hotel. You can spend your leisure time exploring the vibrant markets.
A representative member will pick you up from the hotel and you’ll be dropped at Tribhuvan International Airport for your return flight.
